Our families both attended St. Michael's Catholic Church when we were young; this marks perhaps the earliest we knew each other, though only in passing. I began teaching religious education, C.C.E., while I myself was only a freshman in high school at the young age of approximately 14. My earliest memory of Eileen was this girl whom I would see hanging around the C.C.E. office at the end of every weekend after I taught class. She would usually smile, and I would say hello as I passed her bouncing around the hallway.
Later when we were both at the University of St. Thomas, Eileen also taught C.C.E. at St. Michael's.
